The final injury report of Week 1 is officially in, and with it come the official game status designations for Sunday’s season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
While practice participation levels held completely steady on Friday, game statuses brought a mix of relief and major adjustments for the Cleveland Browns’ starting lineup.
Here is the complete game status breakdown heading into the weekend.
Did not participate
Guard Teven Jenkins (Back) — OUT
After missing practice on both Thursday and Friday due to a back injury that flared up earlier in the week, starting Right Guard Teven Jenkins has tapped out of Sunday’s game.
His absence creates a major shift along the offensive line, as third-round rookie Austin Barber will step into the starting lineup at right
guard to make his NFL debut. With Barber locked into the starting unit, Cleveland is set to feature four rookies in its opening-day starting lineup yet again.
Limited practice
Center Parker Brailsford (Thumb) — QUESTIONABLE
Defensive Tackle Maliek Collins (Quad) — NO STATUS (WILL PLAY)
Center Parker Brailsford logged his third consecutive limited session with a thumb injury and has been officially slapped with a questionable tag. Slated to back up Elgton Jenkins, Brailsford will be a true game-time decision on Sunday morning.
On the defensive side, there is fantastic news regarding Maliek Collins. Despite remaining limited all week as the training staff monitors his recovery from last season's grade three quad tear, Collins received no game status designation. That means he is a full-go for Sunday and will provide a massive boost to the interior pass rush against Jacksonville.
Full participation
Linebacker Carson Schwesinger (Shoulder) — NO STATUS (WILL PLAY)
Reigning Rookie Defensive Player of the Year Carson Schwesinger carried no game status tag on Friday’s final report, clearing him completely for Week 1.
After stringing together consecutive full practices despite a lingering shoulder issue that cost him a majority of training camp, the star linebacker is 100% green-lit to command the defense.
With game designations set and rookie Austin Barber stepping into the spotlight on the offensive line, the stage is set for Sunday.
