The Cleveland Browns are nearing the kickoff of their 2026 season. With that kickoff, it will also be the kickoff to the Todd Monken era in Cleveland as they look to get back to winning and return to the playoffs. Going into a first game as a head coach is expected to be stressful, but Todd Monken seems to have a good idea of how game day will go.
Monken was asked by reporters on Wednesday if he had thought about his first pregame speech with the team.
Monken shared a candid response, saying, "I don't know yet. At the end of the day, our guys will be ready. It doesn't matter what I say. What we do today, tomorrow and Friday will go a long way to how we play."
While that may be alarming to some fans, it makes sense and it brutally honest. A good
coach makes a difference, but it doesn't always have to be with his words before a game. It is about the preparation and steps taken leading up to the game, as he alluded to.
But what is super telling is he demonstrates a no-nonsense, no-kidding himself, approach to all of this, and it is refreshing.
