It took one game for Cleveland Browns fans to start losing faith in this coaching staff. After the questionable decision to start Deshaun Watson, we all saw what we expected on Sunday: a bad quarterback performing at a JV level. Watson played scared, made terrible reads, and visibly lacked confidence.
ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi, when going over his takeaways from Cleveland's 34-10 loss to Jacksonville on Sunday, spoke on what he saw:
What to make of the QB performance: Concerns over Watson's training camp -- inconsistent at best -- and preseason performance will only grow after this outing. In his first regular-season game since October 2024, Watson looked tentative and inaccurate throughout the game. (He went 16-of-22 with five sacks and an INT).
Those are issues that predated the Achilles injury that sidelined him for all of the 2025 season.
The boo birds will be out in full force once Watson starts playing poorly again on Sunday. Cleveland travels to Tampa Bay to play the Buccaneers this Sunday, where we will all wait to see if Todd Monken benches Watson during the game.
