The Cleveland Browns are off to a tumultuous 2026 season with the quarterback position being at the center of it all. Deshaun Watson left fans looking for more in Week 1 when the team lost 34-10 on the road to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Ahead of Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the coaching staff is already getting questions about a change at the position. Head coach Todd Monken spoke to the media on Thursday and was asked if Watson needs to play well to keep the starting job for Week 3 when the Browns play in their home opener.
He said, "There were moments we did a really good job offensively. And there were moments we couldn't. And there were moments we didn't coach well enough. There were moments we could play. I don't get too far ahead,
'cause, really, what matters most is that we have a great Wednesday, and that's what I can control"

While Monken will continue to stick with Watson, the questions seemingly won't go anywhere. Shedeur Sanders remains ready on the sideline, Dillon Gabriel is nursing his way back from a back injury, and Taylen Green keeps getting teased with being used in packages.
They have options, and yet, sticking with the one that has produced the least seems to be the plan at the moment.
