The Browns went to New Jersey in Week 5 to battle the New York Jets in the inclement weather. It made for a sloppy game that the Browns were competitive in, but ultimately lost. Despite the loss, the team has enjoyed some rookies stepping up, especially on offense.
Because of the rookie stepping up, especially at wide receiver, CBS Sports' Carter Bahns is hinting that it would make sense for the Browns to explore a trade of Jerry Jeudy.
He writes, "At 27 years old and two years removed from a 1,229-yard Pro Bowl season, Jeudry still has value. He would be a starting-caliber wide receiver on a number of teams. The Browns are simply no longer a fit for him as they commit more to their younger options like rookies Denzel Boston and KC Concepcion,
who are tied for the team lead in targets. Jeudy has just two starts on the year, and his eight receptions are only the sixth-most on the roster. It looks as though Cleveland is phasing out a player it signed to a $52.5 million deal in 2024. He should have a market among teams in search of receiving depth."
Jeudy was expected to fill in and take some extra targets in Week 5 when KC Concepcion went down. Instead, Isaiah Bond filled that role and target share, furthering the idea that Jeudy could be the odd man out. For a team with holes and needs like the Browns, extra picks in a loaded class makes all the sense in the world.
