When the Cleveland Browns took offensive tackle Spencer Fano ninth overall in this year's draft, many believed that Cleveland finally found another standout tackle for the offensive line. Over eight weeks, Fano has looked good in stretches, and the things he has been saying are earning major props from the coaching staff.
While speaking to the media, head coach Todd Monken spoke about the things Fano said after Sunday's 27-6 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and how much he loved it:
“That’s a lot to ask for the eighth game as a rookie left tackle. It’s hard enough as a rookie right tackle, for any tackle, against the likes of Highsmith and Herbig and the guys coming off the edge...that’s a real positive sign of a player that you have that believes
he should be playing at a championship level already, playing in his eighth game. I think that’s what you want out of your players, and that’s what you want out of all of us"
The Browns will get another shot to stay in the mix for a wildcard spot this Sunday, as they have a road matchup with the New Orleans Saints, where Fano will likely be matched up with Chase Young.
