The 2027 NFL Draft will take place in Washington, D.C. next year. In that draft, the Browns still have their first-round pick, but a lot could happen in the next 7 months. Before then, though, there will be plenty of speculation and buildup about the team, and who they may add through the draft in a class many are calling one of generational wealth.
While we will always look at mock drafts from analysts around the space, we will also keep up with our Mock Draft Mondays here on Browns Wire.
College football season is officially underway, but now so is the NFL season. The Browns showed a lot in their primetime win over the Steelers, so there's a lot to consider when making picks. With that in mind, let's dive into a 3-round 2027 NFL Mock Draft for
the Browns.
Round 1: Dylan Stewart, Edge, South Carolina
Dylan Stewart's college career remains up in the air following his indefinite suspension. However, as the saying goes, "If Hannibal Lecter ran a 4.3, we would say he had an eating disorder." Now, Stewart has some potential attitude problems based on what we have seen on video and the suspension. However, Stewart remains one of the best talents on the defensive side of things in college football. The Browns could use him opposite Jared Verse, and he would be coming into a locker room that knows how to handle eggshell-type situations. Stewart and Verse would be one of the best dynamic duos in the NFL in terms of young pass rushers being paired together.
Round 2: Devan Thompkins, DL, Alabama
The Browns need a space eater in the middle of their defense as a part of their rotation. Thompkins fits that mold and could allow the defense to be more aggressive on second and third downs in the process. He doesn't present much in terms of pass-rush chops at the moment, but all Mike Rutenberg would need is for him to come in and create third-and-longs and then unleash his blitz and Jared Verse to create pressure.
Round 3: Brice Pollock, CB, Texas Tech
The Browns' secondary needs some youthful depth added to the mix. Brice Pollock has good size, instincts, and can make plays on bigger receivers. He would be a welcome addition to the secondary and help out the pass rush as they would be able to create more coverage sacks in the process. Players like Myles Harden are doing the best they can, but we have seen them struggle with speed and size throughout the season.
