The Cleveland Browns are moving forward following their 27-6 loss to the Steelers last week. Head coach Todd Monken has described the loss as a learning opportunity and one that hopefully everyone will grow from. However, a big part of that is an honest evaluation of performance.
Earlier this week, Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report released his Week 8 quarterback report card. Here he gave his honest assessment of how Deshaun Watson performed against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“Watson hasn't been great this season, but he's been effective, especially late in contests. A quarterback can't do much when he's pressured like Watson was throughout this AFC North matchup.”
It was undoubtedly a mixed bag for Watson. His 324 passing yards look nice in the
box score, but he only led the offense to six points. Part of this was due to the eight sacks he took, which is partly the fault of the quarterback, who needs to get the ball out faster.
Overall, Sobleski gave Watson a D grade for his performance. Even worse, Watson won’t likely get an opportunity to bring that score up this weekend as he is currently in concussion protocol and his status for Sunday is in doubt.
