The Cleveland Browns sit atop the AFC North with a 4-2 record through six weeks. They have been one of the biggest surprises in the NFL this year, and there is a lot to be optimistic about with this team. However, that’s not to say that everything has been perfect.
The Browns have had their share of ups and downs. The offense specifically has had its fair share of struggles. Despite that, head coach Todd Monkin isn’t getting down on his team.
Here’s what he had to say about the early season highs and lows.

First and foremost, winning covers up a lot of things. It’s easy not to be frustrated when the team is in first place. If it were the same level of play with a 2-4 record, then I have no doubt that Monken would be feeling a bit more frustrated.
It’s also important to note that this team came into the year with a lot of questions. Bringing in a new head coach and trading away the team’s star defensive player, Myles Garrett, it felt like the start of a rebuild. In that sense, the Browns have answered a lot of questions, and Monken should feel better about some of the things, particularly on defense, that this team has done.
Finally, Monken knows that it is up to him to solve a lot of the problems this team has. He is an offense-minded coach, and he took accountability for needing to get things figured out. And considering how young a lot of the players are on offense, any good teacher knows that there is a learning curve built into the equation.
The answers they have found are both promising and sustainable, and the inconsistencies that need to be refined are somewhat understandable.
