The 2027 NFL Draft will take place in Washington, D.C. next year. In that draft, the Browns still have their first-round pick, but a lot could happen in the next 8 months. Before then, though, there will be plenty of speculation and buildup about the team and who they may add through the draft in a class many are calling one of generational wealth.
Sports Illustrated's Gilberto Manzano recently released the latest 2027 NFL mock draft of the cycle, which has the team going with a new quarterback in Miami's Darian Mensah. The Heisman Trophy contender could have declared for the 2026 NFL Draft but instead returned for one more year to the surprise of many.
He explains the Mensah pick, writing, "Expect Mensah’s draft stock to jump after he left Duke
for better surroundings in Miami. He’s an accurate quarterback who can push the ball downfield while making minimal mistakes. The 6'3", 205-pound Mensah had 34 touchdowns and only six interceptions for the Blue Devils last year, and could be the final piece to the latest rebuild in Cleveland."
Mensah would be a fun piece in the backfield due to his ability to make plays with his legs. Monken deserves a quarterback of his own and with the skillset he has it could someone he could win with.
