A fight near the end of third quarter in Saturday night's high school football game between Mililani (HI) and Foothill (NV) resulted in the game being called early.
The game was called with 3:51 remaining in the third quarter on Sept. 5.
Mililani, the No. 13 team in the USA TODAY Sports Super 15 West rankings entering the week, had just scored a touchdown on an 8-yard run by Makakoa West. The visiting team attempted the point after attempt and as the kick went through the uprights, punches were thrown.
The scrum started as a minor skirmish near the line between a few players and quickly boiled over to multiple players throwing punches, being shoved and helmets taken off.
The fight was mainly limited to the field with a handful of Mililani players rushing onto the field as nearly every Foothill player remained on their sideline. Coaches from both sides rushed onto the field to quickly break the fight up.
Once both teams were on their respective sidelines, the referees met near the site of the scrum and after a few moments, announced that the game was over with Mililani leading 34-3 as Foothill fans booed and jeered from the stands.
Mililani moves to 4-0 on the season and will remain at home next Saturday as they host Leilehua with kickoff coming at 6 p.m. local time. Foothill is now 2-1 and will have a quicker turnaround as the Falcons travel to Las Vegas (NV) next Thursday for a 7 p.m. PT kickoff.
