The Buckeyes scored two goals in the first half. Amanda Schlueter opened the scoring for the Buckeyes by netting her team-leading 15th goal of the season. The Ohio State defense pressured the Illini offense, resulting in an own goal to send the Buckeyes into halftime up 2-0. The Buckeyes would continue to push the momentum in the second half, and in the closing minutes, Elle Britt added a late strike to put the game completely
out of reach in the 84th minute. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Peighton Northrup and the Ohio State defense earned their 10th shutout of the year.
