The latest US LBM Coaches Poll is out, and the pollsters continue to show their antiquated way of thinking. We saw that last week when Ohio State dropped more spots (five) than it should have after losing by one point on the road to the new No. 1 Texas squad, and now the Buckeyes have dropped another spot to No. 7 after a 59-3 win over Kent State on Saturday.
That can largely be attributed to the Ole Miss victory over LSU and the Rebels' move up to No. 6. It's one of the reasons we like the way the College Football Playoff committee does things, but we'll let that all go here.
The top five above that remained the same, with Texas still at No. 1, followed by Georgia (2), Notre Dame (3), Indiana (4), and Miami (FL) (5). Behind Ohio State and rounding
out the top ten were Alabama (8), BYU (9), and Texas Tech (10).
In the Big Ten, teams ranked in addition to Indiana and Ohio State were USC (12), Penn State (14), Oregon (16), Iowa (17), Michigan (18), and Washington (23).
