The game against Iowa didn't go as many thought. The Hawkeyes were supposed to use their style of play to frustrate Ohio State and make it a fourth-quarter game, but that never materialized. The Buckeyes took control of the game late in the second half with a late touchdown, then showcased Julian Sayin and Jeremiah Smith on the way to a rather comfortable 31-14 victory
inside sold-out Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City.Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz knew it would be a major challenge to hang with and beat such a talented Ohio State team, and the Hawkeyes just didn't have the firepower to overcome some key mistakes and the inability to contain superstar receiver Jeremiah Smith, who caught 11 passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns on a record-breaking
day for him.
Ferentz met with the media after the game and congratulated Ohio State, praising the way the team played and also comparing Jeremiah Smith to great players he's faced in his time. He also lamented his team's mistakes but took nothing away from the Scarlet and Gray.

The win improves Ohio State's overall record to 4-1 and its Big Ten mark to 2-0. The Buckeyes will now prepare to face Maryland at home next week as they continue their journey in the 2026 season.
