Well, this is bad. It's been a long time since Ohio State football has been in a tailspin like this. Then again, maybe it's never been this bad. Has a Buckeye team ever had so much talent just to squander it all? Certainly, there have been OSU teams with great talent that lost games that should have been won, but can you remember a time when a team with this much talent has just looked lost? It's been a really bad look two weeks in a row now, and fans are fed up.
Any goodwill that Ryan Day earned back by leading the Buckeyes to the 2024 College Football Playoff national championship is all but gone. Fans, media, and former players are unloading after the team once again looked unprepared and got embarrassed for a second week in a row. And rightfully
so. I mean, how can Jeremiah Smith go almost three quarters of the game and not see a single target? That's criminal.
Yes, the team is without its Heisman finalist quarterback, but a program of the caliber of Ohio State shouldn't fall apart because of one injury. Maybe Buckeye Nation is spoiled, but we have come to expect more. Losses happen, but to get bullied after a bye week on the road and then again at home... unacceptable.
As you can imagine, social media is raging. Here is just a sample of what people are saying.
Maybe the Lunatic Fringe was right all along about Ohio State coaches
The "lunatic fringe" are just people who use their eyes.

Ohio State inexplicably bullied at home
Ohio State gives up 41 points at home to a team that fired its offensive coordinator two weeks ago and was missing both its starting quarterback and running back—with the season on the line.

There are no excuses for this. Absolutely unbelievable.
Pittsburgh Steelers fans tried to tell Ohio State fans
This should be Arthur Smith’s last night in Columbus.

A bad look for Ohio State
Arthur Smith and Matt Patricia are being out-coached by Chris Hampton (first year as Oregon’s full-time defensive coordinator) and Jay Johnson (second week calling plays after Drew Mehringer, who was in his first year as Oregon’s offensive coordinator, got fired).

Former Buckeye is embarrassed
First tweet in 6+ years.. CLEAN HOUSE. This is embarrassing.

Unacceptable with this much talent at Ohio State
Ohio State is about to drop to 6-5 in their last 11 games.

No one is doing LESS with MORE than Ryan Day right now.
Arthur Smith decided not to drive the Ferrari tonight

Forgetting you have Jeremiah Smith is criminal
Jeremiah Smith’s emotion on the field is completely warranted. Him barely getting targeted in a game like this is abysmal

Saving jobs one game at a time at Ohio State
Imagine making Steve Sarkisian, Lincoln Riley and Dan Lanning look like elite coaches in the same season...

Another former Buckeye who gets it
Can’t allow a team to come in the shoe and be the bully that’s unacceptable and for sure not the culture

Change is requested immediately
This team looks broken. Something has to change immediately

Ohio State should at least see what it has in Tavien St. Clair
Nick Saban benched his star QB in thr NC game. Ryan Day won't even bench a Freshman QB in a blowout loss.
