Ohio State football and Maryland have a brief football history, but very one-sided. The Buckeyes will enter this weekend's matchup holding a 9-0 record against the Terrapins, with the rivalry between the two starting ever since Maryland joined the Big Ten Conference in 2004.
The two programs first met on Oct. 4, 2004, in the Terrapins' first season in the Big Ten. Ohio State, led by head coach Urban Meyer, went on the road to College Park and won the game 52-24. A season in which Ohio State ultimately ended up winning the national championship.
Ohio State has scored at least 37 points in each of the nine meetings between the teams and is 5-0 against Maryland at Ohio Stadium. In Ryan Day's first season as head coach, the Buckeyes recorded a 73-14
victory, which was the most lopsided win of the series.

The two most recent games between the two teams have been more competitive. Ohio State won 43-30 on the road in 2022, and then defeated Maryland 37-17 in Columbus in 2023.
