Former Ohio State running back Chip Trayanum faced an unfortunate situation on Friday night when he was taken to a local hospital after suffering a neck injury in the first half of the New York Jets' preseason loss to the New York Giants.
Trayanum is an undrafted rookie who is trying to secure a spot in the Jets' backfield. He was injured on the final play in the first half after taking a handoff from quarterback Cade Klubnik. After a tackle by linebacker Trace Ford, Trayanum remained on the field, and medical personnel had to attend to him. He was placed in a neck brace and carted from the field.
The running back spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons with Ohio State, after beginning his career at Arizona State. His situation was a unique one in that
he switched his position to linebacker for a brief period of time before injuries and depth concerns forced him back to running back.

Trayanum left Ohio State and went to Kentucky, and finally finished his collegiate career at Toledo where he rushed for 1,015 yards and 12 touchdowns. His final season earned him an opportunity to earn a roster spot with the Jets this season.
However, it looks like the focus for Tayanum will now be on getting healthy.
