The college football world is up in arms again because of Michigan football. It seems like the most-hated program just can't get out of its own way when it comes to giving us all moments to loathe it even more. This time, it wasn't really the Wolverines' doing, but the result was still one that didn't do the program any favors in the court of public opinion.
It is the news of Week 1 of college football. Western Michigan looked like it had upset Michigan on a literal last-second Hail Mary that was out of the back of the end zone, only to have the replay official add one more second on the game clock despite the broadcast clock (which NBC said is synced) clearly showing zero. Wolverine quarterback Bryce Underwood then had another last-ditch Hail Mary that was completed
to JJ Buchanan, winning on a walk-off desperation.
The Big Ten has since issued a statement backing up the replay official's decision, sharing what it says is the official game clock that did still have a second on it, but it appeased almost nobody because of the contradictory nature of the broadcast clock (that is supposed to be synced) and what the position of the Big Ten.
As always, there's plenty of reactions to all of this on social media, and since Michigan is the arch rival of Ohio State, we'll pile on too. Here are the best social media reactions to the controversy of the Michigan vs. Western Michigan game. The internet can be undefeated in moments like these, and as you'll see, some are quite creative, hilarious, and thought-provoking.
Nothing is forever, apparently, when Michigan is involved
Remarkable statistic:

Is NBC going to have a statement? This is the point I want to know.
You just told everyone the cameras were strobe-synced 85 minutes before kickoff to guarantee alignment.

Then the broadcast clock and your clock disagreed by a full second on the last play of the game.
One of those two things is false. Pick which one and show your work. https://t.co/0GLWB55oii
Michigan fans are all about confirmation bias, maybe?

"Michigan Man" does have a new feel to it since Harbaugh got ahold of things
People had doubts about how well Kyle Whittingham would integrate into the storied Michigan culture, but generating that kind of controversy and loathing from basically all neutral fans on *Day 1* is an impressive level of Michigan Man™️.
