The Buffalo Bills had a day to forget against the Houston Texans last season.
But the Bills have not completely let it go ahead of the team's 2026 season opener against the Texans on Sunday in Week 1.
Buffalo lost that last outing in Houston a year ago in a 23-19 final which did not feel as close as that. A big reason for that is quarterback Josh Allen being sacked eight times while being hit on 12 total occasions.
Those types of numbers put eyes all over the Bills' offensive line heading into Week 1.
"For me it can’t get much worse," tackle Spencer Brown said recalling that game.
However, there is nothing but confidence and motivation coming out of Buffalo this week.
“Dion (Dawkings) and I both got banged up, they got a lot of pressure on Josh, and they came
out firing," Brown said. “Their defense is easily the top defense in the NFL, in my opinion. The way they fly around, the way they chase the ball, their secondary, how they cover. And obviously they have $80 million dollars tied up in pass rush guys."
"It’s a good test to see where you’re at, and it’s early, so get out of the way and then roll from there," Brown added. “If you can do your job to the highest possibility and be confident in what you’re doing, then you can go out there and be successful."
The Houston pass rush is led by big names in Will Anderson and Danielle Hunter. Those two accounted for 2.5 and two sacks against the Bills in 2025, respectively.
At the end of the day, the importance of Brown and the O-line is all tied to Allen being able to make plays. Allen is confident he will be given chances to do just that on Sunday.
"(Faith) is extremely high," Allen said. "(Brown) is a special player."
