If you ask social media or the internet at-large, the Buffalo Bills constructed the worst new stadium in NFL history.
However, that does not appear to be the majority nor reality... not even close to it.
On Saturday, the team held their first football event at the new Highmark Stadium. Unfortunately what gained the most attention in the echo-chamber that social media can be at times were any negative comments. The most stark problem was seats with very obstructed views.
However, Bills president of business operations Pete Guelli said on a conference call that is not the reality of the situation.
“So far, we’ve heard from less than 1 percent of our PSL holders about anything sight line related,” Guelli said.
Truthfully, aside from that seating issue
at the $2.2 billion venue, there were few other complaints. The second most discussed complaint was the size of the video board inside the stadium.
All that said, between the seating and video board, Guelli noted the Bills are still all ears and are not taking any issues lightly.
“If anybody feels otherwise, we’re taking this on a case-by-case basis, and we’ll address any concerns that they have," Guelli said.
“Any building you would walk into, there would be some obstructed seating,” Guelli added. “There are seats where we could create a different design, put in a blank area, or they give you the option to put in a seat that might be obstructed for football, but can be used for any other event like a concert."
In addition, Guelli mentioned some photos shown on social media might have been misleading and even potentially taken from a location were a seat would not be sold for a football game.
Regardless, it is a work in progress. The Bills might be a multi-billion dollar franchise, but just like most--if not all--members of Bills Mafia, it is their first time building 60,108-seat modern stadium.
