Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Ed Oliver played in his first home game at the new Highmark Stadium on Sunday as his team beat the Los Angeles Chargers in a 24-16 final.
The Bills (3-0) had their struggles against the Chargers (0-3) but the defense stood out. The unit did the heavy lifting in this one as the offense struggled, and there might have been a pre-game reason why the defense played so well.
Ahead of the game, the team introduced individual players from the starting defense to the crowd. Oliver was among them.
Oliver had a tragic personal loss this offseason and then before the home opener in Week 2, Oliver was a surprise inactive and did not play. That made Sunday Oliver's first game in front of Bills Mafia in Orchard Park.
When players
were introduced, one of the loudest, if not loudest cheer, was for Oliver as fans showed support for him during a tough time.
Oliver took note of that after the game.
"I love Bills Mafia and they love me back," Oliver said.

It was his first home game since the passing of his son over the summer.
