The Buffalo Bills are looking to stay in the win column against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Bills (2-0) host the Chargers (2-0) at Highmark Stadium. It will be a 1 p.m. kickoff on Sunday in Week 3.
As AFC foes, this game could mean something big down the line. How can Buffalo get the upper hand in this one?
Here are Bills Wire's three keys to victory against the Chargers:
Win in trenches on offense
The Chargers are winless but their defensive front has done well. Headlined by Khalil Mack, the defensive line has three players with positive grades in the above average category on Pro Football Focus metrics (70+).
If the Bills' offensive line (ranked No. 6 overall this week by PFF) has to step up. Not only because that will help quarterback Josh Allen, but the Chargers have
the NFL's best yards per carry allowed total at 2.7 total. If running back James Cook gets going, the Bolts might not stand a chance.
Khalil step up
With the likes of wide receiver DJ Moore (shoulder) and Keon Coleman (ankle) on the injury report this week, the Bills will need to find ways to get Shakir involved... especially if both do not play. Tight end Dalton Kincaid will be the top target on paper, but he can't be alone.
Capitalize on desperation
The winless Chargers are clearly going to be desperate to win. Could that mean some serious "hero ball" being played by quarterback Justin Herbert?
If it does, we're looking at you, secondary. The Bills' defensive backfield should have chances to take the ball way. Do that, and it's hard to imagine Buffalo losing this one.
