The Buffalo Bills opened the 2026 season with a dramatic 36-31 victory over the Houston Texans on Sunday, overcoming a late rally by the home team to escape with the win.
Quarterback Josh Allen led the way for Buffalo, producing four total touchdowns in an impressive season-opening performance. Allen threw for 334 yards and two touchdowns while adding two rushing scores. He found DJ Moore for his first receiving touchdown with the team in the affair and also broke free for several big runs, including the 80th rushing touchdown of his career.
Allen's biggest moment came late in the fourth quarter, when he connected with Joshua Palmer on a 34-yard touchdown pass with 1:41 remaining to put Buffalo ahead.
The Bills’ passing attack was particularly
explosive. Dalton Kincaid recorded five catches for 130 yards, while DJ Moore added five receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown.
Houston refused to go quietly. C.J. Stroud passed for 274 yards and two touchdowns, while David Montgomery scored twice on the ground and added a receiving touchdown.
With the Texans driving for a potential game-winning score, Buffalo’s defense made the decisive play. Greg Rousseau sacked Stroud and forced a fumble with just seconds remaining, allowing Terrel Bernard to recover and secure the victory.
The win gives Buffalo an early statement victory and sends the Bills into Week 2 with momentum.
