The Buffalo Bills are looking to begin the 2026 NFL regular season in a positive manner.
The Bills are heading into next season with huge goals and Super Bowl dreams. Their first stop en route to that possibility is against the Houston Texans in Week 1 at Reliant Stadium. In order to pull off their first win of the season, what must Buffalo do against Houston?
Here are Bills Wire's
three keys to victory for against the Texans on Sunday:
Keep Josh Allen on his feet
It has been discussed throughout the week but for good reason. The Texans defense beat up the Bills in a big way in 2025.
Buffalo's offensive line allowed eight sacks against Houston last season. All-Pro pass rusher Will Anderson had 2.5 sacks and Danielle Hunter added another two. The Bills have to get better play
out of their tackles in Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown this time around.
Surprise them on defense
It is a new defense the Texans offense will be facing when Buffalo comes to town in 2026. The Bills had former head coach Sean McDermott calling the shots last year and now it is defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard.
Leonhard admitted this week that he only showed a watered down version of his defense during the preseason. The Bills could catch the Texans by surprise and that would make a huge impact.
Don't lose it, Brady
Brady is downplaying it, but it is his first game at the helm as a head coach in the NFL. That is a big deal. Perhaps the biggest key of the game will be for Brady to not make any sort of rookie head coach mistakes.
That can be easier said than done.
