The Buffalo Bills are looking to stay in the win column against the Detroit Lions.
The Bills (1-0) host the Lions (1-0) at Highmark Stadium. It will be a Thursday Night Football showcase.
As cross conference foes, these two don't meet often. How can Buffalo get the upper hand in this one?
Here are Bills Wire's three keys to victory against the Lions:
Secondary step up
Buffalo's secondary could be facing a shootout against the Lions offense if that's what the Houston Texans did against them in Week 1. The Bills have a banged up Cole Bishop (questionable) but there cannot be any excuses. The Texans had too many free runners over the middle of the field that allowed them to stay on the field.
Stay on the field
It was the Josh Allen show in Week 1 and it was last time the Bills and Lions
faced off. That game was a 48-42 final.
While it seems the Bills will lean more on Allen with Joe Brady as head coach, don't forget about James Cook. The Bills have a premier running back and Cook not only has talent, his efforts would eat up the clock and keep the Lions away from the ball.
Feed into the energy
The Bills will say they are just focus on going "1-0' this week against the Lions. That's well and nice to hear... but there will only be one first game at Highmark Stadium. Use that energy from Bills Mafia and stick it to the Lions.
