The Buffalo Bills enter their 2026 preseason finale on Thursday against the Pittsburgh Steelers and most would expect that means all starting positions are sorted and those players won't be seeing the field.
No so fast says Joe Brady.
Buffalo's head coach announced on Tuesday that the likes of nailed-on starters for months (or years), such as quarterback Josh Allen, will not play. However, some position battles on his roster will continue when the Steelers come to town.
Brady did not name those, but some we already clearly know. Two of the most discussed are at left guard and linebacker.
On the offensive line, offseason signing Austin Corbett is battling returnee Alec Anderson to start at left guard. At linebacker, fourth-round rookie Kaleb Elarms-Orr
has made strides all summer against the presumed roster incumbent Dorian Williams.
The two deciding the winners on offense and defense are Brady and defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard, respectively.
Relating to the O-line battle, Brady did not give an inch and said he likes the play from Corbett and Anderson. That means it is wide open heading into the preseason finale.
"I like the competition," Brady said.
Leonhard had a similar response and description of Elarms-Orr and Williams, even suggesting both could end up seeing playing time during the regular season.
"I think both players have earned the right to get on the field and what the packages look like," Leonhard said.
