The Buffalo Bills might've just been handed Josh Allen's "flu game" against the Detroit Lions.
The Bills (2-0) beat the Lions (1-1) on Thursday Night Football to start Week 2 in the NFL in a 41-31 final. Allen certainly looked beyond fine as he scored five touchdowns in the win.
In a nod to NBA legend Michael Jordan who famously played his "flu game" in the 1997 NBA Finals, the NFL on Prime broadcast might've accidentally revealed Allen played through the same illness on Thursday.
Analyst Richard Sherman acknowledged during a roundtable conversation with Allen following the game that the Bills QB did not want to reveal the health issue, so Sherman did it himself. Evidently Allen was "shivering in a hot tub" and needed an IV he was potentially so sick.
On the surface level, that makes Allen's performance all the more impressive. After Sherman mentioned the illness, Allen did not deny the allegations.
Below that, hopefully the Bills do not get in trouble with the NFL here. The Bills failed to report Allen's injury at all this week during practice. One could assume Allen had to show some minor signs of illness prior to Thursday.
But that doesn't mean Allen did not practice, therefore, there would be no need to report any injury. Regardless, Buffalo head coach Joe Brady has certainly shown a desire to keep his cards close to his chest early in his tenure in charge.
