As the Buffalo Bills prepare for the 2026 NFL season, Bills Wire will take a look at the most important contributors on their roster. The team has some cornerstone players who will be returning for another shot at bringing a Lombardi Trophy to Buffalo, and they'll have help from some new additions as well.
Leading up to the season, we will be counting down the top-30 most important players on the roster. We'll recap their 2025 season, look ahead to what they'll offer in 2026, and tackle the most pressing questions surrounding them this coming year.
Next on the countdown is O'Cyrus Torrence.
Background
Position: Guard
Age at start of season: 26
Experience: Fourth year
2026 cap hit: $3,364,087
2025 recap
O'Cyrus Torrence started all 17 regular season games and two postseason
games for the Bills in 2025. Torrence has now logged over 1,000 snaps in each of his first three seasons in the NFL, starting in 57 of a possible 58 games in his regular season and playoff career (rested Week 18 in 2024). In 2025, he registered a 59.8 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, good for 44th among 81 NFL guards.
2026 outlook
The Bills signed Torrence to a four-year, $78.4 million contract extension in early August, including more than $46 million in guaranteed money. He is once again penciled in as the starting right guard for the Bills offense. He returns as an important piece to a Bills offensive line that has had good continuity over the last few years. While they lost their offensive line coach from last year in Aaron Kromer, they will retain their right guard for the foreseeable future. The Bills will hope to see consistency from Torrence at right guard because the left guard spot will see a new starter in Alec Anderson.
Biggest question: Will the play back up the pay?
The new contract extension makes Torrence roughly the tenth-highest-paid guard in the NFL, depending on how you scale it. The Bills and GM Brandon Beane were aware that the guard market in the NFL is rapidly increasing and they got out in front of it by banking on an ascending player who should be entering his prime, turning 27 this coming winter. Torrence had the best season of his career last year, but will need to back it up and then some after the pay day.
