The Buffalo Bills did not get the better of the New England Patriots in their latest game on their 2026 NFL schedule. Buffalo lost at Highmark Stadium to the tune of a 29-26 final.
Onlookers can learn plenty from such a game.
With that, here are Bills Wire's three things we learned from Week 4:
Josh might not be the MVP
After three games, Bills quarterback Josh Allen was the favorite for the NFL MVP Award in 2026. That might not be the case.
Regardless of who could be the favorite and eventual winner, Allen's play finally caught up to him. He had poor moments in the first three weeks of the season but he got away with it those times.
People will not forget his loss-sealing interception against the Patriots this week.
The secondary stinks
There is no way to work around this, Buffalo's secondary
is terrible. Top cornerback Christian Benford, who has struggled himself, did not play against the Pats.
This stat says it all:
#Bills CBs passer rating allowed when targeted this season:
— Kevin Siracuse (@kevin_siracuse) October 5, 2026
🔻Christian Benford: 124.4
🔻Davison Igbinosun: 115.2
🔻Maxwell Hairston: 114.2
🔻Dee Alford: 100.8
YIKES 😳😬 #BillsMafia
The Patriots are not dead
The Bills could've taken a stranglehold of the AFC East with a win over the Patriots. That did not happen, the Pats are just one game behind Buffalo for the division lead now.
The Patriots and very much alive in the AFC East and conference.
