In Pro Football Network’s latest 2027 NFL mock draft, the New York Giants address a key defensive need by selecting Oregon defensive tackle A'Mauri Washington at No. 21 overall.
Washington, a first-team All-American and third-team All-Big Ten selection in 2025, stands 6-foot-3 and 320 pounds. After limited action as a reserve in 2023 and 2024, the Chandler, Arizona, product emerged as a starter for the Ducks and established himself as one of the top interior defenders in the class.
His combination of size and functional strength has drawn consistent attention from evaluators looking for immediate impact in the trenches.
New head coach John Harbaugh has done a great job of turning the Giants around, as they now sit atop the NFC East. However, the roster
still needs work, including the middle of their defensive line, as the aging D.J. Reader isn’t a long-term solution.
A’Mauri Washington has significant raw power and strength, as shown by his ability to collapse the pocket with a bull rush. His block shedding is up there with any defensive tackle in the class, which will help him greatly improve the run defense of any line he joins.
The selection fits the Giants’ current trajectory under Harbaugh. While the team has climbed to the top of the NFC East, the interior of the defensive line remains an area that requires a longer-term answer.
Washington’s ability to win with power and shed blocks would give New York a young, physical presence who can contribute against both the run and the pass as he continues to develop.
