Former New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard is trying to keep his NFL career going. The 10-year veteran is signing with the New York Jets' practice squad ahead of Week 2.

Shepard briefly signed with the Houston Texans in late August before being released shortly thereafter.
He spent the first eight seasons of his career in Giants blue after New York drafted him in the second round in 2016. Shepard then signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and played for them in 2024 and 2025, topping 300 receiving yards in each season.
A fan favorite
during his time with the Giants, Shepard is clearly determined to continue playing at age 33 and avoid retirement for at least the 2026 season.
He will have to make a name for himself on the Jets practice squad to stay in the league. The good news is there is plenty of season left for Shepard to earn a promotion to the Jets’ active roster or land with another team if one decides to claim him off the practice squad.
