New York Giants quarterback Jameis Winston has spent more than a decade hearing about " The Jameis Winston Experience." For most people, that phrase covers the version of him that can throw for 500 yards and four touchdowns one week and five interceptions the next.
When asked about that label during his post-practice press conference on Wednesday, Winston offered a definition that left the room a little quieter than usual.

“My take on the Jameis Winston experience is that I am called to be the light of the world and the salt of the earth, right?” he told reporters. “Every time that I’m around someone, I am driven to increase that man or that woman with every action that I take.
So, if you’re defining that as the Jameis Winston experience, I’m telling you that is the Jameis Winston experience that I intend to give.”
The answer landed with the same energy as a deep ball that somehow turns into a pick-six. Winston has never pretended the perception does not exist. He just refused to let it set the terms. He recalled a piece of advice he once received from former Washington quarterback Joe Theismann: Perception is reality.
People can describe the experience however they want. Winston said his intention is narrower.
“My intention is to be a man of increase,” he said. “Increase in every man, every woman that I come in contact with, doing onto them as I would want them to do onto me.”
Asked whether that version of the experience extends beyond the field, Winston said it does. He called the starting quarterback job for the New York Football Giants the largest platform he has. The work, in his telling, is still the same: Compete with teammates, fight for each other, stay one team and one heartbeat.
“At the end of the day, give all the credit to God because he deserves it anyway,” he said.
Whether that approach produces more clean Sundays or more of the familiar chaos remains an open question. Winston has made clear which version of the experience he plans to deliver. Fans who have watched the other one for years will be the ones who decide how it looks on film.
