New York Giants linebacker Brian Burns left Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans in the fourth quarter with what appeared to be a serious right-leg injury.
Burns went down at MetLife Stadium and punched the turf in visible pain as the medical staff hurried onto the field. Teammates Aaron Stinnie and Andrew Thomas helped him off while he struggled to put weight on his right leg. Trainers appeared to work on the knee before Burns was taken directly to the locker room rather than the medical tent.
The 28-year-old edge rusher was a surprise active after missing every practice this week with a left ankle sprain suffered late in Monday night's loss at the Los Angeles Rams. Head coach John Harbaugh kept him out of sessions on the short week, but
Burns dressed and was used situationally in rainy conditions.
Burns has not missed a game since the Giants acquired him in 2024 and posted a career-high 16.5 sacks last season. New York's pass rush entered Sunday with just one sack through two games.
Further testing will determine the severity. An official update is expected after the game.
