The New York Giants entered Week 7 as significant underdogs against the Houston Texans, with oddsmakers listing them as 9.5- to 10.5-point road dogs and the moneyline reflecting a heavy lean toward Houston.
National experts and insiders largely followed that consensus, with the overwhelming majority selecting the Texans to win, including nearly every member of major panels from ESPN, CBS Sports, and others. Some projected double-digit margins.
New York had other ideas. The Giants generated 420 total yards while limiting Houston to 237, then secured a 27-21 overtime victory. Cam Skattebo’s 42-yard run in the extra period set up Devin Singletary’s walk-off 30-yard touchdown, improving the Giants to 4-2-1 and placing them alone in first in the NFC
East heading into the bye.
The response on social media was pointed. The official Giants account posted a simple dismissal of the pregame consensus.

Defensive tackle D.J. Reader also weighed in, highlighting the lopsided nature of the expert selections.

Additional Giants joined the conversation. Fullback Pat Ricard mocked the narrative that the team could not run the football, while offensive tackle Jermaine Eluemunor thanked the fans who traveled and noted the team’s new standing atop the division while taking a shot at the analytics community.
The result provided a clear response to those who counted the Giants out once the ball was snapped.
