Paulson Adebo is embracing the New York Giants' defensive scheme under coordinator Dennard Wilson while holding himself to an elite standard.
Following practice on Tuesday, the veteran cornerback said Wilson’s system features plenty of press man coverage on the outside within an attacking zone approach, closely matching what he ran in New Orleans. That style lets corners challenge receivers at the line and plays to the strengths of the entire group.
“Absolutely, yeah. I mean, it’s definitely something that I love to do,” Adebo said when asked if the scheme fits his skill set.
The comfort arrives as Adebo pushes to raise his level. Looking back on last season, he was direct in his self-evaluation.
“Overall, not good enough, regardless of whatever
circumstance is going on,” he said.
Physically, Adebo feels ready for the year ahead and continues chasing the same target he has pursued since his rookie season.
"For me, personally, my goal is always to be the best in the league, so year in and year out, that's always been my goal since I came in as a rookie, second year, third year, fourth year, so that doesn't change. But definitely there's more expectations, so there's more from the outside as far as being able to fulfill those expectations," he said. "But for me, personally, it's always been the same, trying to be the best in the league.
Adebo sees himself as more than the Giants’ top corner. He wants to prove he belongs among the NFL’s best. The combination of a scheme that suits him and a refusal to accept anything less than excellence sets a clear tone for his 2026 season.
