The New York Giants have set their initial 53-man roster, which means players will be jockeying for their preferred jersey numbers.
Some will get them; others won't. We already saw Odell Beckham Jr. reclaim his famous No. 13 from now-practice-squad wide receiver Jalin Hyatt, who changed to No. 81 on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, recently signed running back Najee Harris, whose jersey number in college at Alabama and in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers was No. 22, has switched to No. 23 here with the Giants. No. 22 is currently held by cornerback Dru Phillips, who has worn it since 2024.

Rookie cornerback Colton Hood, who wore No. 12, is switching to No. 33. Neither number has much significance to him.
In college, he wore No. 24 at Auburn, No. 3 at Colorado, and No. 8 at Tennessee. No. 12 was not currently held by anyone. It was worn in the preseason by backup quarterback Brandon Allen, who was released on Sunday.
