As the beginning of the 2026 NFL season inches closer, the status of New York Giants star wide receiver Malik Nabers has been a hot topic of conversation surrounding the team all offseason. Nabers had his sophomore season cut short last year after suffering a season-ending knee injury in Week 4.
On Wednesday, as Big Blue opened training camp in West Virginia, Nabers looked much closer to game-ready than expected.
Malik Nabers looks good. This was the first time we've seen him run since the knee injury.

He participated in individual drills at the Giants first practice of the summer. Have to think it bodes well for Week 1. pic.twitter.com/uBFfLCkTsA

Nabers’ sharpness quickly drew reactions on X, likely fueled by his uncertain status for the upcoming season.

If he comes back Week 1 he will be a great value pick in Fantasy Drafts..
His current ADP is the 4th round.. even if it goes up to the third round this would still be great value…
Ok so ya… Malik Nabers is going to play Week 1.

He looks MUCH BETTER than the last time we saw him.
My concerns are significantly less than they were 2 weeks ago before we saw him on the field.
Updated thoughts coming soon.

It was reported last week that Nabers would avoid the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.
Before that news, it was heavily speculated that Nabers would not be ready for the start of the season after undergoing a second surgery earlier this offseason, described as a “cleanup” procedure. The Giants later signed three veteran receivers in early June, adding to the speculation regarding Nabers’ recovery timeline.
Despite adding plenty of pass-catchers this offseason, there is no doubt the Giants need a healthy Malik Nabers if they are going to be successful this season.
In fact, the anticipation of having Jaxson Dart, Cam Skattebo and Malik Nabers all on the field at the same time has many excited about the potential of this offense.
Although it is just Day 1 of training camp, the way Nabers looked on Wednesday was certainly a great sign regarding his status for the beginning of the season.
