John Harbaugh reaffirmed his confidence in kicker Dominic Zvada on Wednesday, saying the New York Giants are looking for consistent results but are not concerned about the position.
The coach noted that the staff continues to evaluate technique and fundamentals, with the clear expectation that kicks will travel straight through the uprights. Any misses would bring disappointment, while makes would be welcomed, yet the overall evaluation of Zvada has not changed.
"We're looking for kicks to go between the sticks, right through the upright, straight. Looking for straight kicks," Harbaugh told reporters. "But you're also looking at the technique and the fundamentals, but we're not worried about him."
Harbaugh said the belief in Zvada extends beyond
the immediate week. He pointed to the kicker's talent, work ethic, and mental makeup as reasons the Giants view him as a potential long-term solution. At the same time, he acknowledged that results over time will ultimately decide the matter.
"We believe in who he is. We believe in his talent, his work ethic, and his head. We really think he's made of the right stuff," Harbaugh said. "Over the long haul, he's got to do it. He's got to prove it. There's no doubt about that. But we're of the belief that he's going to be a long-term answer for us."
The approach this week, Harbaugh indicated, is straightforward. The focus remains on executing kicks and contributing to a win, with the same level of belief the staff has expressed previously.
