The New York Giants have begun interviewing candidates for the vacant Chief Business Officer position, reports Ian O'Connor of The Athletic. The role has been unfilled since Pete Guelli left the organization in March 2024 to become chief operating officer of the Buffalo Bills and Sabres.
During his time with the Giants, Guelli established a business intelligence and analytics department, expanded the team’s digital presence, led branding initiatives, and helped secure a comprehensive organizational role for Eli Manning.

The new executive is not expected to be involved in football decisions. Co-owner John Mara has served as team president and CEO since 2005 and maintains final say in football matters. When he hired John Harbaugh in January, Mara allowed a Giants head coach to report directly to ownership – and not to the general manager – for the first time, granting Harbaugh unprecedented influence within the franchise.
The incoming executive is not expected to have any involvement in football decisions. Co-owner John Mara has served as team president and chief executive officer since 2005 and continues to hold final authority over football matters.
The search comes as the franchise settles into the John Harbaugh era. With optimism surrounding the team’s trajectory on the field, the Giants appear intent on capitalizing on potential growth in marketing and commercial opportunities.
Separately, the organization has closed applications for the Senior Director of Turf and Grounds position. The job, which called for strategic leadership over the team’s playing surfaces and grounds operations, was posted in mid-July and is no longer accepting new candidates as of early August.
Together, the moves signal continued attention to both the commercial and facilities sides of the operation under the current ownership and coaching structure.
