Following their season opener at home on Sunday Night Football, the New York Giants will quickly turn their attention to their Week 2 opponent, the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams entered the season with enormous hype, and many considered them a favorite to win the Super Bowl.
After an embarrassing Week 1 loss, the Rams will come in with a sense of urgency as they try to avoid falling to 0-2. Unfortunately for Los Angeles, the team will be without its best defensive player when it takes the field against Big Blue.

That injury news helps explain why some observers noticed Myles Garrett did not look like himself in Week 1 against the San Francisco 49ers. The issue had been bothering him throughout training camp.
The Rams will still present a tough challenge for the Giants in Week 2. Losing Garrett, however, is a major blow to the Rams' defense and should lessen the burden on New York’s offensive line.
Garrett is the reigning Defensive Player of the Year and is coming off a season in which he broke the single-season sack record previously held by Giants legend Michael Strahan.
The Rams acquired Garrett this offseason in a deal that included Jared Verse and three draft picks over the next three years. Not long after the trade went through, speculation began that Aaron Donald might come out of retirement to team up with one of the most feared defensive linemen in football. Donald did just that.
With Garrett on injured reserve, the Giants’ offensive line can shift more of its focus to Donald, who is still ramping up after two years away from the game.
