The New York Giants approach their Week 2 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams with a key variable that could affect the game.
Sports Illustrated's Eva Geitheim identified the Rams’ adjustment to being back in Los Angeles after their season opener in Australia as the biggest question surrounding the upcoming contest.
The Rams’ plan to fly into Australia a day before their Week 1 game against the 49ers appeared to backfire as they lost 27–7. They have plenty of time to rest and reset before their Monday Night Football matchup against the Giants, but how will they rebound after their travels back to the U.S. and such a deflating loss?
They’ll be facing a Giants team that proved it’s no pushover in a tone-setting win over the Cowboys. The Giants played
physical football to take down the Cowboys, consistently winning in the trenches. The Rams were the less physical, energetic team against the 49ers, something they’ll need to change to defeat New York.
The Giants played with an edge that matched the expectations surrounding the team heading into the season. The Rams, on the other hand, did not look like the club that reached the NFC Championship Game last season when they faced the 49ers overseas.
If Los Angeles cannot recapture that physicality and energy at home, New York could have another chance to impose its style of play.
