The New York Giants selected Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo with the 105th pick in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL draft.
It's a good thing they acted when they did, because the San Francisco 49ers, who held the 113th overall pick, had a card with Skattebo's name on it.
Robert Saleh, the current head coach of the Tennessee Titans and the Giants' opponents this Sunday afternoon, was the 49ers' defensive coordinator in their war room last year. He told reporters that the Niners were all set to take Skattebo if he fell to them.

"He's
cool, man. I like him," Saleh said at his presser on Wednesday when asked his impression of Skattebo. "He's like the old-school 2010 Madden hit stick. Lower your shoulder, run people over, plays his ass off. Lots of energy. I know going into the draft, we were actually about to draft him in San Francisco.
"Kyle (head coach Kyle Shanahan) loved him, and he ended up getting taken before we were picking. I think we ended up with C.J. West, who was a pretty damn good player too. But he's a spark plug."
The Niners never got the chance. The Giants snared Skattebo eight picks before they had the chance to pounce.
One has to wonder, though, what a Christian McCaffrey-Cam Skattebo backfield would look like.
