The first win of John Harbaugh's New York Giants tenure ended with a locker-room scene that belonged as much to ownership as it did to the new coach.
After game balls went to Jaxson Dart, Isaiah Likely, Cam Skattebo and Tremaine Edmunds, president and CEO John Mara stepped into the circle and handed one to Harbaugh. Video circulated quickly after Sunday night's home victory over the Dallas Cowboys, showing Mara at the center of the celebration and the coach's reaction that followed.

Mara's presence gave the moment its weight. He has been undergoing treatment since revealing a cancer diagnosis in September 2025, and
he has not been around the team as consistently as in years past. That he was there, and that he chose to present Harbaugh's first Giants game ball himself, framed the night as more than an opening-week result.
The win was Harbaugh's first in New York, the franchise's first Week 1 home victory since 2010 and a rare break from two long frustrations: Primetime football and the Cowboys.
Players had already marked it as Harbaugh's first victory. Then Mara made it official.
"They did. They did. There were four or five game balls given out and players got them, and then Mr. Mara stepped in and gave me a game ball, so we did a little dance," Harbaugh said. "It made me feel good. It made me feel very proud. In fact, I felt very grateful. I felt grateful to be the coach of the Giants.
"Just to be in this environment, without getting too sappy about it, I just felt very grateful and that's why I tried to open it up very humbly, thanking my Lord and Savior because that's where it all begins. And then all the people involved with this opportunity. To me, it was meant to be. In a lot of ways, that's how I feel about it."
For a franchise that has waited desperately for the tide to turn, the game ball changing hands said enough.
