The New York Giants have a prolific ball-carrier in their ranks as the 2026 NFL season approaches.
The Giants signed Najee Harris on Tuesday following the team's 13-10 preseason loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1. The veteran running back has been discussed at length throughout the offseason and now has an opportunity to compete for a spot on the Giants' 53-man roster.
Harris has produced solid numbers throughout his career, and his track record of success on the ground suggests he could contribute in a tertiary role next season.
Pro Football Focus notes that Harris and Baltimore Ravens star Derrick Henry are tied for the most seasons with at least 1,000 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns over the last five years, with four each.

Harris posted those totals in each of his first four seasons from 2021-24 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. A torn Achilles sidelined the Alabama product last season, but at only 28 years old, he still has a chance to reclaim that form.
Harris is unlikely to play against the Miami Dolphins in Week 2 of the preseason, as head coach John Harbaugh suggests a two-to-three-week ramp-up period is likely.
