It's no secret that New York Giants cornerback Deonte Banks has had a tumultuous tenure with the team since arriving in 2022.
The former first-round pick out of Maryland always had impressive talent. However, the young cornerback struggled to put everything together throughout his early career. That wasn't the case during Sunday's 36-24 win over the Arizona Cardinals, though.
Banks wound up overcoming some adversity on the final drive as the Cardinals were threatening to take the lead as they trailed 30-24 in the final seconds. However, Banks intercepted Jacoby Brissett's pass and raced toward the sideline as time expired.
Though head coach John Harbaugh believes it crossed his mind to want Banks to go down to end the game, the 25-year-old sealed
the win with a pick-6.
"It did cross my mind, but you have to trust him, and I guess it just shows you it was in there the whole time. It was in there the whole time, and he found it," Harbaugh said of Banks.

This was certainly a moment of redemption for Banks, who enjoyed an incredible game. He got called for a bogus defensive pass interference call earlier on the final drive, but he made up for it by keeping a cool, level head. That's something he wouldn't have done earlier in his career.
Instead of melting down, Banks kept his composure, broke up a third-and-goal pass, and his walk-off pick-6 was the cherry on top of a fantastic game. According to Pro Football Focus, Banks allowed just three receptions for 19 yards and a 42.4 passer rating on nine targets.
Even quarterback Jameis Winston shared some encouraging thoughts on the roller coaster that Banks has been on throughout his career entering this year.
"Two weeks in a row, our defense held strong, man. And to see Tae Banks, man, someone who has faced his trials, man, but still finds a way to persevere. And for that to happen to him, and for him to finish in the end zone with that ball, I was so proud of him," Winston said Sunday. "Obviously, he talked about that first drive, his welcome back moment, because he's been locking down stuff since training camp. But sometimes it’s not how you start, it's how you finish. He finished in the end zone to lead us to a victory."
The Giants defense as a whole made some adjustments in the second half after looking lost during the opening part of the game. Banks' performance was also symbolic of that on Sunday, and he turned it on at the right time.
Big Blue will now hit the road in Week 5 to take on the Washington Commanders, and they'll need Banks to continue his growth if they want to stay atop the division.
