Cornerback Greg Newsome II reiterated his long-standing desire to remain with the New York Giants after he and the team agreed to a three-year, $46 million contract extension that includes $32 million guaranteed.
The agreement, finalized Tuesday, keeps the 26-year-old under contract through the 2029 season following a one-year deal he signed in March.

The comments reinforce remarks he made after joining the Giants in free agency. At that time, Newsome explained that he selected New York despite other teams offering longer contracts, stating he viewed the opportunity as a chance to establish himself long-term with the franchise
and ultimately "retire a Giant."
"There (were) other places that could have had a little bit (of a) longer-term deal, but I wanted to be here, and I wanted to showcase myself in front of the New York fan base and my coaches and players," he said at the time. "I'm excited to start fresh here now and hopefully, we get something done where I can retire a Giant, because that's what I want to do."
The extension recognizes Newsome's productive start to the 2026 campaign. Through six games, he has registered one interception, six passes defended, and 25 tackles while securing a starting role opposite Deonte Banks. His contributions have aided a Giants defense that has supported the team's 4-2-1 record and first-place standing in the NFC East.
A first-round draft choice of the Cleveland Browns in 2021, Newsome was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars during the previous season before signing with New York. His improved play this year has turned a prove-it contract into long-term security, providing the organization with continuity in the secondary as it approaches the trade deadline and the second half of the season.
