New York Giants linebacker Arvell Reese has been voted the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week for Week 4, the NFL announced Thursday.
Fans selected Reese over Titans wide receiver Carnell Tate, Steelers safety Robert Spears-Jennings and Dolphins linebacker Jacob Rodriguez in voting on Instagram and X. The winner receives the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week championship belt.
This is the 26th year of Pepsi as the NFL’s official soft drink sponsor and presenter of the weekly and season-long rookie awards. Four players will later be nominated for Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year, with fan voting in January.
The honor follows a dominant afternoon in New York’s 36-24 win over the Arizona Cardinals at MetLife Stadium. Reese led the Giants with nine solo tackles,
added a tackle for loss, broke up three passes, and recorded his first career interception.
That pick, on a ball tipped by Shelby Harris, set up a touchdown before halftime. He also hurried Jacoby Brissett into a throw that was intercepted.
Giants Wire named Reese the Player of the Game. He also posted the highest Pro Football Focus grade on the roster at 90.5. Head coach John Harbaugh said Reese was all over the field again and has really taken off. The No. 5 overall pick called the outing merely decent by his own standard.
It was his second nomination in as many weeks after he fell short in Week 3. Through four games, he leads the NFL in solo tackles, and the Giants sit at 3-1 with sole possession of first place in the NFC East.
