If Beckham works his way onto the active roster, Minnesota would become the sixth team of his career since the Giants drafted him 12th overall in 2014. He would also be paired with fellow LSU alum Justin Jefferson, widely regarded as one of the best wide receivers in the league.
Beckham signed with the Giants to reunite with the franchise that selected him in the 2014 NFL draft and where he spent the first five years of his career. Fans were excited
to have him back, and the former first-round pick stood out throughout training camp and the preseason. He worked hard to make the team and carried the right attitude through the process. He earned a roster spot and appeared in line for playing time, especially after Calvin Austin suffered a training camp injury.
After limited snaps and only one target through three games, the Giants decided to move on, ending the reunion just three weeks into the regular season. Even with a thin wide receiver room, the team determined it was best to release Beckham.
Head coach John Harbaugh said it just was not working to get Beckham involved enough. Over the weekend, Beckham shared his side of the release and made clear he was unhappy with how it ended.
Although his second stint with Big Blue ended sooner than he had hoped, his preseason work was enough to catch the attention of the Vikings front office. Beckham will continue his NFL journey in Minnesota and hope to earn a spot on the active roster at some point this season.
