The New York Giants' coaching staff made several decisions during Sunday's 34-27 loss to the New Orleans Saints at MetLife Stadium that fans and pundits are second-guessing on Monday morning.
One of those decisions was regarding star left tackle Andrew Thomas, who left the game in the fourth quarter to be evaluated for a concussion. Rookie J.C. Davis replaced him.
Thomas was ready to re-enter the game after the medical staff cleared him, but the call never came. He watched the final 25 offensive snaps from the sidelines.
“That was interesting,” Thomas said, via the New York Post. “The series before, I got up a little slow. When I went out there the next drive, they said I had to do the concussion protocol testing.”
Thomas was limited all week with
a groin issue and has been clearly less than 100 percent. He said the coaches didn't explain why he wasn't reinserted into the game.
“That was the coach’s decision,” Thomas said. “I listen to what the coach says.”
The action was the first for Davis, a sixth-round pick out of Illinois in this year's NFL draft. He was inactive for the first five games.
