The New York Giants are adding cornerback help with three of their top options already ailing.
ESPN’s Jordan Raanan reported on Thursday that the club is signing Nikko Reed off the Los Angeles Chargers’ practice squad and placing him on the active roster. No corresponding transaction has been posted.

Reed lands on the Giants active roster with them short on healthy cornerbacks. Paulson Adebo didn't practice Thursday. Deonte Banks and Greg Newsome were limited.

night at the Los Angeles Rams.
Reed, 23, went undrafted in 2025 after four seasons at Colorado and Oregon. The Oakland product and Moreau Catholic High School alumnus finished college with 115 tackles, five interceptions and 22 passes defensed in 49 games. He started as a sophomore at Colorado, then transferred to Oregon and worked as a starter and rotational corner for the Ducks.
The Chargers signed him as an undrafted free agent. Reed made the initial 53-man roster after a strong preseason that included a 60-yard interception in the Hall of Fame Game. He appeared in five games as a rookie, totaling two tackles and one pass defensed before a hamstring injury landed him on injured reserve (IR) in January.
Los Angeles waived Reed at final cuts this summer and brought him back to the practice squad.
At 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds, Reed ran a 4.46-second 40-yard dash at his pro day. He gives the Giants a young depth option who can work outside or in the slot while Adebo, Banks, and Newsome work back toward full health.
